Hotel Resort Schloss Auerstedt

Recreation surrounded by history

If you didn't know any better, you might think you've taken a wrong turning on the way to Thuringia and ended up in Tuscany instead.

At first glance, the extensive grounds of the Schloss Auerstedt hotel look like you are on holiday in Italy, thanks to the plentiful light natural stone, grapevines and tall cypresses. The main building, which served as the Prussian army's headquarters during the twin battles of Jena and Auerstedt in 1806, has been sensitively and lovingly restored. The old castle courtyard is now home to an expansive hotel resort with cosy rooms and holiday apartments managed by married hosts Kati and Frank Reinhardt. It also includes a guest house that is only a few steps away from the resort. In the spring, the large chestnut tree on the castle terrace is in full flower; in the summer, the old stone walls give off warmth until late into the night, and in the winter, a blazing fire roars in the open fireplace in the foyer.

EXPERIENCE TIP

Auerstedt is not far away from the Thuringian vineyard Bad Sulza, which regularly hosts wine tastings and events open to the public.
