Your power. Our nature.

The community forests are growing.

You have given your all and really pushed yourselves out there! We say thank you from the bottom of our hearts and are creating two community forests in Thuringia - so that our nature will continue to be an experience in the future. We are planting 4,500 new trees on two areas that were primarily damaged by bark beetles and are happy to take you on an exciting journey from seed to finished forest. Your baton has been passed, now it's time for our power. Join us and look over our shoulder!

We kick off with our shining stars - you!  The best community in the world.  Whether it's swinging on skis, relaxed hikes, cycling adventures or extensive running training - your enthusiasm and dedication have literally infected us.

For Christoph (IG: @trailfoxy) and Desi (IG: @scheeesiie), our campaign  became a motivating incentive. As enthusiastic runners, they took the opportunity to lace up their running shoes and prepare optimally for their participation in the Rennsteiglauf.

Your unbelievable performance of 102,959.20 collected kilometres corresponds to 4,120 new trees for Thuringia. Your energy will become two community forests, new nature, places that impress us.

The result blew us away, and out of respect and gratitude, we at Thüringer Tourismus GmbH are going one better by rounding up and planting 4,500 trees.

Over 500 sporty Thuringia fans took part in our campaign. Thank you for this extraordinary commitment! You are the driving force behind this wonderful initiative that makes Thuringia a bit greener and more alive.

After our prelude, in episode two we proudly present the two areas in Thuringia where our community forests will be created.

Area 1 is picturesquely located at the Ohra Dam in the Thuringian Forest and is managed by the Finsterbergen Forestry Office. But as is so often the case, appearances are deceptive. The bark beetle is also wreaking havoc at the Ohra Dam and causing obvious damage to the forest. Join Dr. Gerhard Struck (Head of the Finsterbergen Forestry Office) and Lilli Mette (Head of the Luisenthal Forestry Office) to get to know our first area and learn more about the dreaded bark beetle.

For the visit to the second area, we will set off together to the Südharz-Kyffhäuser region, where we will meet Gerd Thomsen (Head of the Bleicherode-Südharz Forestry Office).

The challenges are great, but together with your power and dedication we are confident that we will breathe new life into these community forests. Together we can achieve great things, for nature and for us.

In our third episode, 'Up high,' we embark on an exciting mission to the Steigerwald forest in Erfurt to recover a very special treasure - the seeds of the hornbeam.

Join us on this captivating journey where we meet Ira Simon, the passionate leader of the Forst Thüringen Samendarre. She takes us along with her intrepid cone pickers, or in this case, seed harvesters.
A job that definitely requires dedication and freedom from dizziness! But our journey does not end there.

The harvested seeds find their way to the Thuringian Forest's seed kiln in Fischbach in the Thuringian Forest. Here we lay out the fruiting stalks of the hornbeam on the dry soils to ensure that these seeds can develop into new trees.

Dive with us into the world of seed harvesting and discover how new forests are created from seemingly inconspicuous seeds.

Taking root

In episode 4, our journey takes us to the Thuringia Forest Nursery in Breitenworbis to Nicolas Hartmann, the tree whisperer.

Welcome to the nursery for our future forest giants! This is where the new trees spend their first 2-5 years of life before they are "released" into the wild. But this nursery is not just any nursery; it is the only forest nursery in Thuringia operated by Thüringen Forst.

High-quality plant material that is true to its origin is carefully cultivated here to support our forests and create new ones. Currently, one million new trees are produced for Thuringia every year.

The perfect place to find out where our new trees for the community forests come from.

Together for each other

We have made it! Thanks to your power and more than 100,000 kilometres run, we were able to plant 4,500 new trees in two new community forest areas in Thuringia. This means that our Thuringian nature will continue to be an experience. MANY THANKS to everyone who contributed to realising our project. Enjoy the last video in our series for the time being, in which you can follow #TeamTTG as they create the two new community forests.
