Bach connects.

A virtual journey

The castle chapel in Weimar is a place of longing for Bach fans: Bach wrote his wonderful Weimar cantatas for this unusual church room with a quasi-invisible organ loft at a great height.

The so-called Himmelsburg (castle of heaven), which was lost in a fire in 1774, is now coming back to life, at least virtually: In an ambitious project, the Thuringian Bach Festival and a number of specialists have developed a virtual reality version of the "Castle of Heaven". With VR glasses and headphones, Bach lovers can now take a trip back to Bach's time and experience the special acoustics of the castle chapel with the cantata "Himmelskönig, sei willkommen" (BWV 182).

Take a look at the eventful history of the Himmelsburg here and find out how the virtual experience was created.
